Plant Closing

At the same time as everyone was focused on Farve a plant closed, close to Green Bay, putting 500 people out of work. The company would not sell the plant to another paper company, because it was reported that would help the competition. The company said that the workers will just have to look for other jobs. Not to much more was reported that I saw. There were some political people , the workers asked for help and they said not much could be done. I am more upset over these people loosing their jobs than I am over Farve going to the Jets and not playing for the Packers. Some of them worked longer or as long as Farve and they did not choose to quit. Prayers are needed for these families.

Today I started to clean my very dirty carpet. I also got my hair cut.

Yea... people's priorities are not exactly in order. Most folks care a lot more about their Quarterback than their next door neighbor's job! UNTIL... the next door neighbor has to go on WELFARE! Then the QB fan has fits because it's costing them TAX dollars to support their (lazy) neighbor! *sigh* Maybe Brett Favre could get them all jobs in NY - maybe cleaning the stadium or selling hot dogs...

Someday folks are going to turn their TVs off, look around, and wonder when the world fell apart. They are going to demand an explanation for the current state of affairs, and they are not going to accept that they played any part in the decay.

That is a lot of people to loose their jobs. This economy is really starting to scare me. Many of my friends and family live in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area and plants/factories are closing down everywhere.

Either way, my Victory garden is about to yield lots of good stuffs. Our pear trees are bursting with pears. If things get any worse I may even consider buying a few chickens!
