I am now into the second week in trying to eat healthier. Our second trip to the supermarket took as long as the last one. We had to study to find what we needed.
Last week we had some great meals and one flop. I liked best Apricot-Glazed Turkey and Sweet Potatoes. A soup I liked was Ginger-Scented Apple -squash Soup. The Spicy Hot Cocoa was also very good.
The flop came on Hearty Turkey chili. WE had not picked up enough cooked beans and so my daughter stopped at the store and picked up uncooked beans. I had the rest of the ingredients cooking and just threw the beans in thinking they would cook. As you probably know they did not. The chili tasted good and we would pick out the beans. We are going to try it again with cooked beans.
I am using my tread mill also.
The weight has not come off fast. I have a pound loss so far.
Our recipes have come from weightwatchers andEat better America from on line.

LOL! Betty! You've never worked with dried beans before? Don't feel bad! I make bean soup several times each winter -- and Tuesday I was making some and decided to put it in the crock pot and let it cook all day so I could pay attention to the inauguration. I boiled the beans for a few minutes first, and then let them sit for an hour - just like the directions say. Then I put them in the crockpot and started my soup. It cooked all day and by supper time it still wasn't a good thick bean soup! So Dennis made omellettes and we decided to continue cooking the soup the next day. YESTERDAY I started the soup cooking again at 9:00 am - and by supper time - 7:00 pm at my house - it still wasn't THICK yet! I don't know WHAT went on with those beans and THAT soup - but it cooked for 17 hours and never did do what it was supposed to! I added rice to it and it tasted just fine! The beans were soft - it just never thickened. Very strange!
Anyway... weight doesn't come off quickly - we all know this. I can gain 5 pounds a WEEK without even trying - but taking it off takes a month! You GO girl! How's Penny coming?
Meli: she lost five pounds.
Remember, just one pound at a time...
